As you know, I’m doing a mental cleanse where I commit to doing some activities to help me clear my mind of clutter. So, to recap, I am not watching the news for a week, meditating daily and no computer games after 8:00am. I did two out of three yesterday. I admit, I played about a 1/2 hour of computer games in the afternoon yesterday. But I think that is such a great improvement from before. I’m not going to beat myself up about it but I will try and do better today.
You see, I’ve become addicted to playing computer games. I could spend probably up to maybe 4 hours a day playing games. I’m addicted to Minesweeper. It is such a mind and time waster. Furthermore, it numbs my mind. After a session of playing computer games for hours, my mind is mush and I can’t even look at a computer for a while. Well, my livelyhood is working on my computer so I need to save my mind for my business.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned from starting this mental cleanse is the time I use up by not only computer games but the news. I spend probably two hours a day listening to the news(that doesn’t include watching Jon Stewart as he is more satire on the news). It is such a time waster where I could be doing better things like going for a walk, working out, working on my business, etc. So I’m learning that it is a time-waster but also a distraction. It is making me look at what my distractions are in my life that keep me from moving forward in areas of my life, such as my business life.
And the hard part about this mental cleanse is finding other things to do that can take up this time since I’m not playing computer games or watching the news. I will be discovering other things to do and see instead. I have been working on my business more the past few days than I have been in a whole month. This is good!! I’m also doing what I enjoy which is working on my business.
So how is your mental cleanse going? What are you learning?
